The coal-mining industry is the base of our economy. In the process of coal mining, safety is a main concern. The traditional mine monitoring solution mainly concentrates on monitoring the environmental data, thus it doesn’t provide protection for the mine workers well. At the same time, it cannot provide detailed information of the underground coal mine. So, it is important for us to improve the current mine monitoring system.This thesis is part of the mine personnel positioning video surveillance system, and mainly concentrated on the development of the client software. The client software is designed based on Qt framework, and runs on Windows OS. It contains mainly five modules: real-time video surveillance of underground coal mine, personnel positioning, environment data monitoring, alarm managing and related configuring functions. This thesis designed the SDK interface of the client, which is used to exchange data and signal between the client and the server. This thesis also designed a common background multi-thread module with QThread and C++template; the module is used for all the business besides the user interface. The personnel positioning module built a map widget with Qt graphic APIs. The map widget supports uploading, local buffering, zoom in/out, and movement of the map. Monitor devices can be added to the map so the related information can be shown directly on the map. The system is well-tested, and meets the requirement.
