Since this century, China’s railway has improved its speed six times, various model harmony electric multiple units(EMU) are in widespread utilization, which makes China’s high-speed rail technology into the world’s advanced level in a relatively short time. However, EMU is a kind of typical complex product in maintenances and repair technology, the quality of which is closely related to driving safety. Because of this, it is very important to commit the personnel training in modern means to improve the EMU maintenance. Meanwhile, as the domestic public cognition for complicated equipments is low, it is necessary to carry out the science popularization education to the public and to improve the quality. In this context, we have completed the development of virtual reality system based on the domestic VRP platform for virtual reality software system and comprehensively use multiple graphics image processing tools, which not only based on high speed EMU but also considered maintenance personnel for the purposes of training and two aspects of popular science education. Specifically, the paper’s main work is as follows:1. First, this paper discusses the related key technologies of virtual reality (VR) research status at home and abroad, especially, the concept of virtual reality and its basic characteristics and so on in detail; second, the development of virtual reality system overall structure was discussed, along with the software system structure and the like. Also, the development process of software3ds Max and VRP fusion is given.2. The commonly used methods of three-dimensional modeling simplification technology are discussed. In the development of virtual reality system, the multi-level model of details (LOD) simplified technology is used in the drawing method based on geometric model. In order to make better an improvement of real-time virtual reality system, application modeling technology based on graphics is applied to image rendering for large scene, by mixing two kinds of modeling technology, the system modeling is finally completed.3. In this paper, on the basis of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), in-depth analysis is conducted about the nature of virtual reality technology team optimization decision problems, influence factors and their inner relations. A comprehensive evaluation index system is created with time, cost, technology, credibility; a hierarchy analysis model is built, so as to realize the optimal selection of virtual reality technology team.4. According to the characteristics of the VRP platform, the script design,3d modeling and baking, in the late synthesis are completed, and the EMU virtual reality system is developed.
