With the rapid development of microelectronics technology, the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) in the design of digital circuits are widely used, has been widespread concern in teaching FPGAs. Conventional FPGA experimental systems more than a parallel data interface with a PC to communicate, however, USB (Universal Serial BUS) support Plug and Play and hot swap features and a higher transmission rate and low price, and thus gradually become the interface of the PC peripherals standard, so it is necessary to solve this problem, research FPGA USB interface expansion; FPGA teaching FPGA and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) extensions to enhance the computing power of the FPGA, increasing the FPGA application range.The article first gives a brief introduction to existing FPGA experimental system in my university, the system uses a XILINX’s FPGA chip, the chip development environment made a certain description, after a detailed analysis of the FPGA works, structure, and I/O port distribution.After some problems exist in the FPGA teaching, do the following, including:1.FPGA experimental systems USB extension:using USB2.0technology, given the USB interface of the FPGA platform solutions, with emphasis on the USB interface of soft, hardware design and implementation. Finally, the USB extension hardware and software design, and through simulation analysis in the introduction the USB system architecture based on the USB device controller.2.FPGA experimental systems DSP extensions:TMS320VC6713chip DSP FPGA platform interface solutions, with emphasis on the DSP interface of soft and hardware design and implementation.3.FPGA experimental systems DDS extensions:FPGA as the core, using the DDS technology designed a dual-channel signal generator,which can adjust the phase relationship.Finally, for all studies were simulation confirmed that the design of practical rationality.The simulation results show the improved design of the FPGA experimental system is reasonable and practical.
