| The access network is a bridge between MAN/backbone network and local network of users. With the advance of technology and globalization of economy, the steps of social informatization are speed up. The traditional technology of access network can not meet the needs of users any more, and how to evolve the access network towards broadband is proving an elusive problem, which is becoming the focal point in the construction of the future telecommunication network. Optical fiber strategy is doomed to be the core of strategy transition of access network.In this thesis, firstly, some kinds of traditional access network and their tendency of development are introduced, and it affirms that PON and FTTH will be the mainstream of development and the ultimate goal respectively. Secondly, the theory of the mainstream technology of PON and the standard and technology of EPON and GPON are presentd. Thirdly, the PON technology is applied in the transition of PSTN of CHINAUNICOM in Jinan, and three kinds of transition schemes are proposed for different kinds of residential areas, thereby both optimizing the network and protecting the previous investment as much as possible. Last but not least, it compares and analyzes the three mainstream technologies of PON, from which the advantages and the disadvantages of those technologies are summarized. Then the problems existing in the application and the future developments of PON technology are presented.The study plan combining theory with practice proposes various network transition schemes employing PON technology, which providing a reference for operators in their network transition in the future. |
