Analysis Of Construction Of Domestic Digital Library In Universities

The rapid development of modern computer communication technology and multimedia technology has gradually been promoting transformation of tradition library to digital library. And the digital library has gradually formed the characteristics of information resources digitization, information transmission networking and information technology Individuation. Among so many types of public digital library, digital library in colleges and universities has attracted much attention due to its vital role in undertaking college teaching and scientific R&D. The introduction of digital library to colleges and universities helps to accelerate the dissemination of information, enrich library collection, enhance services and save the administrative costs.Since the1990s, the developed countries has accumulated a deal of experience in the process of initiative construction of digital library in colleges and universities, which can be summarized as "government-leading, co-construction and sharing, technology first". By contrast, after experienced the theory-oriented, system-oriented and service-oriented phases, China has established a bundle of digital library in colleges and universities with abundant resources, advanced technologies and rapidly updated information such as Digital Library of Tsinghua University. The establishment of China Academic Digital Library Alliance (CADLA) is also considered as of great significance.However, since the domestic construction of digital library in colleges and universities started late, the technology level is relatively low as well. It is undeniable that there still exist great gaps between China and developed countries in construction of digital library in colleges and universities. It is suggested to improve the infrastructure in the digital library construction process, raise the quality of librarians, strengthen the protection of network intellectual property rights, give full play to Union role.
