Useness And Countermeasures Of New Media In Maintaining Social Stability

In recent years, China experienced more sudden mass incidents that seriously affected the social stability. It reflects two questions. On one hand, the traditional means on maintening the social stability are not perfect. On the other hand, the traditional media had not worked well in maintening the social stability. With the developing and progressing of science and technology, new media are emerging, and its high speed of spreading information, wide range of using makes information sreaded more convenient. And it also brings on the crisis and opportunity for our sociaty. Although the new media has faulties and non-standard factors, the government and the society should be able to properly regulate, then it will be able to deal with unexpected incidents of social security and play a pivotal role.New media applications in Guangdong Province, should be forefront in our country by its range and frequency.so I intend to limit the scope of this thesis in Guangdong Province, and focus on the defect and countermeasures of new medea. This paper will choose "2003SARS incident" and2013"9.16anti-Japanese rallies and Diaoyu Islands invent" as two major cases to describe the problems of new media in holding stability on Guangdong Province. The case statement will be based on the introduction of crisis management theory, collective action theory and differential pattern theory. This paper will analyze the causes and solutions on those theories, in order to make the article more theoretical and conclusions more authoritative.This paper will study the useness and countermeasures of new media on maintaining social stability when public emergencies happening. And it will describe the classification of new media and public crisis, as well as the role and lack of traditional media and the government in the process of maintaining social stability, then put forward that new media has played a role in the current process of maintaining social stability, such as real-time dissemination of information and influence the breadth of grassroots democracy can promote the realization of the people’s livelihood issues are prompting more rapid response and understand the wider population-related issues, thereby promoting social stability achieved; and new media and its inherent disadvantages, such as the inability to verify the information before the publication of information on the authenticity of the operation of the new media and citizens to use new media for information spread lack of guidelines; and in-depth analysis of the problems arising from the root cause.Finally, the empirical analysis will be presented based on the use of crisis management theory, reconfigurable systems and efficient public crisis management system. we can elimincate or reduce the damage of the crisis through environmental monitoring for early signs of the crisis. New Media should establish long-term mechanism to deal with crises, make good crisis communication plans, strengthen awareness of crisis communication, set up efficient information platform to build "social stability maintenance system",and safeguard civic right and the right to speak at the same time.
