Journalism belongs to the category of ideology. Although journalism has nomandatory to people’s thoughts and actions, in fact, it has a huge influence on people’sthoughts and actions. Today the academic has done a lot of fruitful research on thefunction of journalism, so it provides a theoretical guidance for us to play the role ofsocialist journalism better. In contrast, the studies on the legality of journalism isrelatively poor. On the basis of previous research, this paper inspects and studies ourjournalism from the perspective of the legitimacy. It attempts to explore thedeep-seated reasons of our journalism’s playing a huge function through this research,so that we can enrich and expanse the research on Chinese journalism.By combing the evolutionary history of our journalism’s legitimacy, this articledivides the history into three main stages which have different characteristics. Itstudies them through the separate chapters.The full contents are as follows:Introduction: the importance and significance of research on the evolutionaryhistory of our journalism’s legitimacyChapter One: This is the first stage of the evolutionary history of ourjournalism’s legitimacy, which spans from1949to1956. This stage is the period ofChinese journalism’s preliminary establishment and development, so it has importantand fundamental significance. In this chapter we will discuss how did our journalismquickly establish its own legitimacy foundation in the early days of our country fromseveral principal aspects, which includes comprehensive institutionalization,audience’s transformation, journalism’s self-identity molding and the development ofthe journalism theory. In addition, we will explicit the deficiency of the legitimacy’sconstruction.Chapter Two: The two stage of the evolutionary history of our journalism’slegitimacy spans from1958to1991. This stage is divided into two obvious periodsbeing dated with1978. Our journalism’s legitimacy faced a catastrophe before1978,and returned to the right track of development until the end of Cultural Revolution in 1978. In this chapter, three more aspects are discussed for the legitimacy crisis ourjournalism facing and its self rescue, such as Mao zedong’s charisma, the legalconstruction of the news and the related development of theories of journalism.Chapter Three: Since1992the evolutionary history of our journalism’slegitimacy has entered a new stage. In the era of reform and opening-up tide, ourjournalism has received fast development, and therefore consolidate the foundation oftheir legitimacy. The research of this chapter focuses on its history based on thebreakthrough of journalism theories, the audience transformation and the legal systemconstruction.Conclusion: By analyzing the evolutionary history of our journalism’s legitimacy,the paper makes it clear that journalism of our country has a strong and solidlegitimacy foundation. In addition, through the study of the legitimacy crisis ofjournalism, what should mainly rely on and what should avoid. in maintaining thelegitimacy of our journalism are proposed.The thesis belongs to the field of history, broadly refers the historical resourcesof the development of China’s journalism. This study is a basic research and its majorsignificance is that it can give a shape to our journalism’s legitimacy from the macroview so that the later researchers can make a clear understanding of our journalism’slegitimacy. It can save later researchers’ the trouble of studying and assist laterresearchers do much more targeted and deep theoretical studies, which is also one ofthe purpose of the paper.
