With the intense competition of manufacturing industry, reducing cost, improving product quality and shortening the development cycle have become the key to survival and development of enterprises. Compared with the benchmarking enterprises, BOE products have a long development cycle and much development cost. With the expansion in the production line, BOE need to adjust the existing development mode, accelerate the pace of product development, shorten the development cycle and avoid quality risk.In the concurrent engineering environment, DFMA is an important enabling technology as design for manufacturing/assembly. By fully considering manufacturing/assembly related constraints in the design stage, comprehensive evaluation of product design and process design, and providing the improved feedback information, DFMA tech ensures the success of the product design, process design and manufacture, and reducing the cost as much as possible.This thesis aims at the problems such as long development cycle, high cost witch exist during BOE’s product development.By using the concurrent engineering, project management and other methods, we find preliminary solutions to the problems. Firstly, we refine and segment the method of WBS utilized in the development cycle of BOE, make a detailed comparison about responding time of various stages and cost with competitive companies finding out the causes of the problems, telling the disadvantages of the serial development process at present, showing the direction for further optimization and improvement of concurrent engineering. Then, for each stage of development, by using the DFMA and DFX methods of concurrent engineering, we established and optimized the production model of concurrent engineering in the development process. After that, we took advantage of the methods such as FMEA and6Sigma, to find out the key index of each stage evaluation during product development, and constantly improved the product evaluation system by the gradient correction. Finally, with improvement and optimization the product development process, we tested the result of concurrent engineering on the development and application of LCD panel through the actual product development.The gradual application of concurrent engineering in BOE’s development process significantly improved the participation of each department during product development stage, obviously shortened the product development cycle and reduced the average cost of development products. As a result, the pace of new products to market and quality has been significantly evacuated and improved, the competitiveness of the company on the LCD production has been strengthened.
