With considerable advantages such as in adaptiveness to the environment, variety in training contents, and lowering costs and risks, the future sees virtual reality technologies being overwhelmed in aspects such as training simulations. Parachuting training scene simulation software is able to simulate and display training scenes and procedures for infantry paratroopers receiving their training simulations of aerial movement exercises and emergency procedures.Based on computer graphics and3D display technologies, scene simulation technologies provide over70percent of useful information for users, thus playing a key role in virtual reality training systems. On this background, the author of the article employed virtual reality technologies and scene simulation methods, utilizing the Visual Studio2008platform, participated in the analysis and design phases of parachuting training scene simulation software, and then finished developing it. The author mainly participated in the following phases:on the basis of matured parachuting training standards, along with different emergency situations and their solving standards, analyzed the key points of the aforementioned procedures, concluding their logic used in this computer-aided training system; utilizing the Client/Server architecture and the object-oriented designing principles, achieving support for multi-user interaction, along with high-cohesion and loose-coupling allowing functional expansion in future releases; employing OpenSceneGraph graphics engine based on the open source OpenGL API, using accumulated3DS Max prebuilt models in the related industries, realized the display of basic elements such as the terrain, the users and their parachutes, along with weather effects; developed user-system interaction interfaces; allowing real-time display and process of emergency situations.Research and experiments in the area shows that introducing informationized training simulation systems in parachuting training is a preferable way to provide chances to intensify core flow of parachuting, and exercises of emergency procedures regardless of limitations like weather and environmental restrictions, leading to the rise of the ability of the trainees controlling their parachutes under complicated situations. The finish of the software system has filled the tiny blank in the nation’s research and development of training simulations, while inspiring wide use of virtual reality technologies in training and other aspects.
