People now are paying more attention to oil resources extraction, all kinds of floating platform plays an important role in oil exploration, and the infrastructure of the production work. Marine oil exploitation is a huge investment, high technical, influenced by environment greatly, in addition, the working staffs are generally unfamiliar with deep-water areas, these factors can cause safety risk. So, we should developed a virtual simulation system synchronously, simulate ocean scene real-time, and provide security for platforms.Based on the working environment of offshore platform in the South China Sea, We design and develop offshore platform simulation system. The offshore platform proposed in this paper includes Liuhua platform and single point mooring. Firstly, analyses the demand of the system, build all the 3D mode, then simulate the movement using the physics engine and the formulary of calculating model, Finally, render in OpenSceneGraph is achieved, analyze the experimental results,and give evaluation. The accuracy of simulation is extremely important in the process. For the Liuhua platform, mooring system is one component of the floating platform. In foundation of physics engine, in this paper, we propose an Increase the Catenary's Length (ICL) algorithm which can realize real-time dynamics simulation of large-scale scene with high precision. ICL algorithm can reduce the computation of physics engine and improve efficiency during simulation. The experimental results indicate that this approach is efficient and accurate, and can be used in real-time catenary simulation system. For the single point mooring, we derive the formulary of calculating model, improving the simulation accuracy successfully.Through the research of virtual simulation for offshore platform, and establish a completed application system. The system could recur how the platform worked, help the staff to do researchment without danger, and finish the work quickly, economically, safely. And, more important, applying virtual technology in ocean simulation can provide an economic, scientific and efficient method for marine programs.
