In the21st century, the development of media is rapid. New media has become daily necessities and penetrating into every corners of people’s life, and it has changed people’s life style and thinking mode, especially have a huge impact on children who is in the growing stage. In new media age, children always contact or use new media more or less, there participation in the process of media is a process affected by the media. Therefore, the influence of media on children and the role of media in the process of children growth, has become a problem which is worth thinking about.After years of development, the western countries have established mature theoretical framework of media literacy education and practice system, and in our country temporarily haven’t been able to cause enough attention and extensive practice. This paper collected at home and abroad about the relative concepts of media literacy and media participation, combined with Guangzhou children use media contact, and participate in the investigation report, put forward suggestions on the implementation of media literacy education in our country, hope to improve children’s participation, the ability to use media and quality, cultivate children’s independent, healthy understanding and the understanding media, using the media to provide more comprehensive help for children’s growth, building the positive interactive between the children and the media, to build a harmonious media environment.Guangzhou is one of the cities in China who practiced media literacy education in the early time. And geographically close to Hong Kong and Macau, which influenced by Hong Kong and Macao media deeply, and as we know, the Hong Kong and Macao region is China’s media literacy education of the frontier region. So the study of media literacy in Guangzhou nationwide have profound representative, and can be used as a template to provide the reference for the national media literacy study.
