ERP, shorted for enterprise resources planning, is a system of managinginformation. It is based on information technology and centrally manages theenterprise logistics, cash flow and information flow with the systematic managementthinking. The production, supply, marketing, finance, human activities in theenterprise are integrated to form a closed-loop system. At the same time it integratescustomer needs and internal operations, as well as suppliers of resources, whichreflects management thinking centered entirely on users’ demand, and it is of greatsignificance to the improvement of management standards in the modern enterprises.This paper briefly introduces why W company chooses ERP system from theperspectives of background, significance and the design of ERP system management.Specifically, the following aspects are included: ERP project organization, ERPproject scope, ERP project objectives, implementation of ERP project managementand ERP project risk management. In combination of the practical work undertakenby the author, the MM (Material Management) will be chosen as the main object inthe first period of implementation. This article focuses on the implementation processsuch as MM’s current situation, needs analysis, program design, business processdesign, system configuration and secondary development in order to describe theimplementation of the overall project. The article also displays the necessity and thecomplexity of the information construction in the large enterprise implementation.Integrated with practice, this paper introduces, analyzes and studies W company’sERP system in order to summarize the solution for specific issues and measures. It isexpected that the research results will provide valuable information and reference forthe enterprises where the ERP system is going to be implemented and for thosemanagement consultants who will undertake the implementation of the ERP system.
