Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is an effective method for corporations to radically redesign business processes and to achieve dramatic improvement. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), as a modern management mode applying the information technology, is a new management tool which combines enterprise optimum practice with advanced information technology. The paper discusses related theories between BPR and ERP, and their inner relation. This paper also does some work on applying BPR to ERP implementation.First, the paper compares business processes to traditional enterprise, and the traditional enterprise reconstructed by information technology, and concludes the fundamental reason for enterprises to reengineering business process. The paper introduces the basic theory of BPR, and discusses the business process's change affected by the supply chain environment.Second, the paper explores the inner relation through the notion, origin and development of BPR and ERP, which moves towards integration. The paper reaches the conclusion that BPR combined with ERP is an ultimate outcome after enterprise improves the performance of management and achieves "double profit".Third, the paper analyzes the tools that support process visualization based on process modeling and talks about the object-oriented Petri net modeling technology. Because of the limitation of the classical Petri net in working process modeling, this paper presents a new Petri net model - workflow net, which enhances the capability to visualize and analyze enterprise's core process movement. At last, this paper, from a viewpoint of system integration, presents a CGI model via CORBA service to realize the integration of ERP system data information. The paper analyzes an example of one enterprise's business process on the environment of system integration, and establishes a reengineering business process which is successfully applied to ERP system.
