Vector Network is a new type of data communication network, which is based on vector address and vector exchange. It could exchange packages simply, guarantee the quality of service, and extend the vector address infinitely. Vector address is a kind of network address which is encoded according to the forwarding port number on data transmission path. Vector exchange is forwarding data packages according to the vector address. Vector network separates the control surface and the transfer surface. The exchange device only need forward vector network packages, without collecting or maintaining routing information, which could reduce the complexity and the cost of exchange equipment.Vector network hardware switch is the forwarding device of vector network transfer surface, and its research and development have the vital significance to the deployment of the entire vector network. The main function of vector network hardware switch is analyzing vector address of vector network packages, seperating the forwarding port number, and forwarding the data packages. Secondly, the vector network hardware switch also need deal with vector network basic control and management information, through the way of supporting vector network signaling. The platform of vector network hardware switch is NetFPGA, which is an open programmable hardware platform. Modular development of NetFPGA can make the researchers rapidly set up their own network system on the basis of predecessors.In this paper, according to the demand of the vector network switching equipment, specific vector network hardware switch function, put forward a complete design scheme, and use Verilog language to realize on the NetFPGA platform. The experiments show that the scheme can all be transplanted into a Xilinx Spartan-3series XC3S1400A chip. The core of offline vector network hardware switch cost only around fifty yuan, and the rate can be up to1Gbps. The results further verify the vector network switching equipment of low cost advantage, and also lay a foundation to the further research and application of vector network.
