Vector Network (VN) is a new type of data communication network,The purpose of it is to learn from the excellent technology of the current network for improving the network performance and building a kind of reliable and unlimitedly expanding network structure.The separation of data surface and control surface is achieved by VN, so the exchange devices working in the transfer layer merely need to forward packets and the control layer is responsible for collecting information and maintenance links, which could reduce the complexity and cost of the exchange devices effectively. Vector switch is the exchange device working in transfer surface, and its major function is to analyze vector packets and forward the packets according to the vector address.Vector switch includes the designs of hardware circuit and FPGA hardware programming. The former work is to completed in this dissertation, including:(1) According to the target of the vector switch designed and the demands of hardware programming, a design of switch hardware system based on FPGA is put forward in this dissertation, including the selection of FPGA and the design for the surrounding circuit.(2) Vector switch can be configured for various types of ports, this dissertation specifically selects Ethernet interface and configures the PHY chip, so that the vector switch can be directly connected with existing terminal or Ethernet switch;(3) According to electrical requirements of the Gigabit Ethernet interface and chips of the hardware system, the PCB of the switch has been finished,which ensures the impedance matching by considering the particularity of RGMII and MDI interface signals, making special handling for the layout and setting the wiring parameters;(4) The debugging of the switch hardware is completed. This dissertation advances a test for hardware system and verifies the functions. Combined with the simple and efficient exchange of VN, it proposes a test plan for the overall functions of the switch.In summary, this design realizes a completely offline system based on the vector switch experiment on NetFPGA platform and achieves the aim that it can work independently without PC. Thus, the development of vector switching technology in practical direction will be promoted.
