With the development of communication technology, there is more and more demand for network resource, and the request for the quality of network service becomes higher and higher, so we must try our best to make full use of network resources and improve the performance of the network. Single-path transmission of TCP/IP network cannot meet the demand for the quality of network service in some situations.Stream Control Transmission Protocol provided a new method to improve the performance of the network. SCTP has all functions of TCP and UDP, and it has made up some of the shortcomings of TCP and UDP. SCTP has some new features of robustness, one of the main features is Multi-homing. SCTP’s Multi-homing allows the associated ports to bind multiple network addresses, and this binding allows data to be sent through different paths, increasing the reliability of the SCTP association. Multi-homing feature of SCTP allows the Multipath transmission network can improve the robustness of the network by the path switching mechanism. SCTP will replace TCP as the transport layer protocol in the future, and it has become a hot research.However, Multipath transmission network can’t work well in the IP environment, which limited the performance of SCTP, so we try to improve the QoS of network by a new network--Vector Network. VN is based on Vector Address, it corresponds to the Network Layer of OSI seven-layer network model. Vector Network uses a new exchange addresses called Vector Address. Vector Network is safe, reliable, controllable and support network QoS bearer and business independent, it is a new born network in the background of next generation networks. The Multipath feature of VN determines it can support Multipath transmission better than IP. So, this paper combined the advantages of SCTP and VN to design Multipath transmission network.This paper has researched the architecture and features of SCTP, and described its performance being limited in IP network. In consideration of the Vector Network’s advantages of infinite number of values, safety, light connection, this paper put forward the idea of the fusion of SCTP and VN network, and designed SCTP/VN Multipath transmission network. After that, in this paper, we improved the analysis of SCTP Multipath based on Vector Network environment in resisting single point failure. On the basis of Dijkstra shortest path algorithm, we can get multiple paths keeping a certain distance with each other. This paper designed the method to scan multiple paths and take turns to transmit data, instead of the standard SCTP mode with a main path for transmitting data, in order to insure that the lost packages can be retransmitted as soon as possible. In order to improve the robustness of the Multipath transmission network, this paper came up with incremental routing, and improved the fault detection and path switching mechanism.For the cases of path breakdown, through theory analysis and VC++ simulation experiments, it shows that this method can reduce the delay and packet loss caused by the breakdown of paths, and it can improve the transmission performance of the network better.
