The Design And Implementation Of Xiangyang Vocational And Technical College Management System On Teaching And Scientific Research

With the popularization of campus network and the in-depth development of officeinformation system, comprehensive exploration and implementation of teaching andresearch management informationization has become one of the most important issuesof Xiangyang Vocational and Technical College. This issue comes from the actual needof teaching and research management in our school and in coordination with thereformation of Production, Teaching and Research System. Therefore to develop amultifunctional teaching and research management system which can help to achievescientific research, social services and funds management and so on. This issue alsofocuses on how to make good use of the existing hardware and software conditions andnetwork resources to establish a universal teaching and research system without toomuch investment. Hence, this system will be used to strengthen the quantitativeassessment and timely management of teaching and research, so as to improve theefficiency of its work.During the process of developing the teaching and research management system,we have studied a great number of related documents of the ASP and MS SQLtechnologies and on basis of which we have also done research and practice inrequirement modeling, system analysis, design and realization process. The main tasksof this project are as follows:1. Having developed a universal and simple teaching and research managementsystem under the existing conditions of our college. This system, in accordance with theresponsibilities and management authorities, provides three different levels of user’spermissions hierarchy management, which are teaching and research staff, departmentaladministrators and collegiate administrators. The teaching and research staff systemincludes online reporting, project management, performance inquiry and result-basedmanagement subsystem. The departmental administrator system contains personalmanagement, project management, lecture management, result-based management andperformance statistical inquiry subsystem. The collegiate administrator system includes information maintenance, project management, lecture management, result examination,performance inquiry statistics and annual assessment subsystem. All of these systemsare not only basically meet the need of teaching and research management in ourcollege but also helpful to achieve the quantitative management of teaching andresearch effectively.2. This is a medium-sized network application software project which is based onweb and in order to improve the efficiency of software development, the method israpid prototyping. Rapid prototyping means at the beginning of the system development,the software developers will do as fast as they can to construct a model of the newsystem (prototype) to their customers. Then they will demonstrate the prototyperepeatedly and consult the opinions from the consumers. According to the consumers’feedback, the developers keep modifying the prototype until it basically meets thecustomers’ requirements and then put the system into practice.3. The design of our web application software system adopts the combinationaltechnology of ASP and MSSQL which means the design of background application isASP and the database is MS SQLSERVER2000.4. In addition, during the development of teaching and research managementsystem, security policy and technical feasibility adopted by the system have also beentaken into consideration. The functions of systemic authority management and thebackup and recovery of the database ensured the security of the system.
