Currently, both the services and applications in communication network aremoving towards to the all-IP centered networks.Traditional transport networktechnologies are based on circuit-switched mode which can not meet the needs ofpacket service that has the burst-transmission and high peak-to-average ratiocharacteristics. Packet transport technology (PTN) provides a better solution toresolve the efficient transmission of carrier-grade IP services and becomes the keytechnology of metropolitan transport network construction.Combining with the actualPTN planning project in Loudi Mobile, this thesis presents a comprehensive and indepth study on PTN technology and its planning and application in met ropolitantransport networks.The thesis firstly studies the basic principle and the key technologies of PTN,and introduces the definition, system architecture, hierarchical model and functionplane of PTN respectively, and expounds key technologies in detail including OAM,protection switching, time synchronization, QoS and so on. The thesis analyzes PTNprotected species and the switching mechanism, studies the synchronization methods,the accuracy and the implementation mechanism and PTN performance managementsolutions. Then, the thesis analyzes the business requirements of Mobile network, andoffers a proposal of the overall network architecture, and then the paper compares thedifferent networking characteristics. After the time synchronization and networkmanagement system are planned, the network equipments are selected. The thesisgives the overall planning program of Mobile metropolitan transport networksaccording to the design principle of China Mobile Communicaion Corporation. Tomeet the needs of the Loudi Mobile metropolitan transport network construction, thepaper gives the network construction of the second phase of the program, andexpounds the programs of core layer, convergence layer and access layer. The thesisresearches the network utilization and reliability of each layer, gives the design of thetime synchronization system, the selection of the relay cable and the stationequipment layout.Finally, for the second phase project of Loudi Mobile, the paper carries out theethernet service bearing capacity test, network protection features test and equipmentcapacity test, and verifies the PTN indicators are in line with the requirements of international communications standards. After the equipment installation, PTNnetwork runs stable, high safety and good reliability.
