The development of the digital age makes the traditional publishing industry facing a new challenge of digital transformation. Publishing editing ability is the core competitiveness of the publishing enterprise,the important productivity of editorial team and the main reflection of the editor’s vocational ability. Improving the publishing editing ability is the only way to satisfy the new requirements in the digital age. Therefore, it’s necessary to make a research on the promoting strategy of the editing ability in the digital age.Based on the above, this thesis starts with the investigation of the editing ability concept. And then make the further research on the promoting strategy of the publishing editing ability in the digital age.Editing ability is the term that talking more in the publishing industry. Until now there is not a comprehensive definition of it. The research on the concept of editing ability before mostly based on the editor perspective to analysis. This thesis aims to research on the editing ability under the background of the digital age from the perspective of editor, editorial team and publishing enterprise. For the editor, editing ability is the manifestation of their vocational ability and reflects in every part of the work. For the editorial team and publishing enterprise, editing ability is the important productivity and core competitiveness. The editing ability can be reflected by the publications and the overall strength of the publishing enterprise. Promoting the editing ability is decided by the demand of the publishing industry’s digitizing transformation, the changes of the user’s requirements and the diversification of the editing object. The digitizing transformation of the traditional publishing industry is the trend of the times. The analysis on the deficiency of the publishing editing ability is also from the three perspectives. On this basis, propose the corresponding improving ways and means. The editors should update the editing idea, learn new publishing knowledge actively and master the digital technology so that they can improve their comprehensive quality to adapt to the requirements of the times. The reengineering of publishing process should take into account of the three elements: service, production and marketing, adhere to the principles of integration of product and service, editing and production and editing and marketing. The publishing enterprise should consider the proportion of the age and major, perfect the talent management system and implement scientific management, and pay attention to the education and introduction of inter-disciplinary talent.
