21st century is known as the era of the life sciences and biotechnology, geneticallymodified crops is the most rapidly adopted crop technology in the history of modernagriculture. At the same time, the controversy surrounding genetically modified crops hadalso never ending. Against this background, the paper studied the GM crops reports ofthe domestic media.First, the frame category of GM crops news were constructed; Secondly, a contentanalysis of nearly five-year report on GM crops of the three domestic elite media-"People’sDaily "," China Youth Daily " and " Southern Weekend"–was conducted, and concludedthe characteristics of media coverage of GM crops; Finally, foreign media coverage of GMcrops was described, and a comparative analysis was made between domestic media andforeign media. The results show that, although the total amount of coverage of GM crops has increasedsteadily, but is still too few compared to other reports; The phenomenon of single source orlack of information source is serious, appears frequently vague source; Governmentdepartments/officials and ransgenic experts t occupy the absolute right to speak, lack ofpublic discourse; With positive reports based, neutral reported relatively few media propertiesdifferent positions reported large differences; Whole story frame structure is not balanced, humane spirit is missing.
