Lei Feng In People’s Daily:the Transmutation Of The Text In The Five Decades

In March1963, Mao Tse-tung wrote an inscription for Lei Feng, and called on his people to "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng". Since then, it has became a national movement. Thereafter, People’s Daily began to popularize the propaganda of Lei Feng vigorously, and this year is the50th anniversary of Learn from Lei Feng Movement.The author selected People’s Daily as the research object, and analysed all the text about Lei Feng in1963and every tenth anniversary since1963, in order to examine how the news discourse on the construction of Learning from Lei Feng changed. The authors found that:as an important part of the state ideology, the construction of Lei Feng and its image are always changing, showing different characteristics in different historical periods, and so is the news reports about him.This paper summarized the frame of the text, and found there are four basic frameworks. In addition, the paper also focus on the geographic spatial distribution, social role etc, in the text. With a perspective of macro history, the author believe that the current politic, economic, and the culture must have affected the text. And in this paper, he gives the evidence.
