Generally speaking, students of vocational school are comparatively poor in foundationalcourses, as for students majored in Computer Science and Technology in my school, their Englishis very poor. This essay is based on more than150students of three classes in my school, and it isresearched qualitatively as well as quantitatively. It investigates English different learningmotivation of students majored in computer and reveals different types of learning motivation,besides, it also shows differences between students of different levels. The process of investigationincludes handing out questionnaire, collecting statistics and analyzing them. The research showsthat there are mainly five kinds of English learning motivation, including individual development,inner interest and given pressure, learning situations, information media and going abroad, theimportant degree is listed as above.As for learning situations, the most important factor to arouse students’ interest is learningatmosphere, besides, teachers’ behavior is also important. Trying to learn computer well is alsomotivation of learning English well, as we know, computer is closely connected with English,some terms, software, etc. On learning attitude, good students have mote stronger desire to studyEnglish and they are earnest. On the contrary, students who are poor in English are not active inclass teaching, not to mention making use of English after class. As for language anxiety, thestudents with medium level are most anxious about English. For self-efficacy, students who arepoor in English lack confidence in themselves, most students even give up learning English. As forattribution of results, students who are good at English learning think diligence, teacher and self-efficacy are very important while students who are poor in English attribute to confidence,capability and diligence. So students who do bad in English learning lack sense of personalachievement, they are long for encourage and praise from their teachers and parents. In the end,this essay puts forward some ways of arousing and cultivating learning motivation of studentsmajored in Computer Science and Technology in vocational school.
