Computer-assisted English language learning is a new field of assisting English teaching by computers and software technology. With the development of the computer skills and the popularization of the internet, computer-assisted English language learning is more and more becoming an important method of the current English learning; it is also one of the Information technology research hot spot. It will change the English studing environment and teaching mode at present, greatly improving the students'English learning efficiency.The dissertation will compare and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of some popular computer-assisted English language learning softwares recently. Combing with the modern concept of English teaching, it presents a English studing system named interactive-intelligent English studing system, which is more suitable for students'English learning habits, more synchronous with the textbook, more interactive, more intelligent, it also have a incentive mechanism. The interaction of system is embodied in the word book learning module, English associative learning module, video annotation learning module, pronunciation score module, game module and so on. These modules can greatly improve the interesting of the system, facilitating students to learn English words and contents from various angles. The intelligence of the system is mainly reflected in the introduction of intelligent memory module which can help students view their learning history and learning effect. The dissertation will focus on the design and implementation of the video annotation learning module and the pronunciation score module because they are the emphases and difficulties of System.In order to improve the efficiency of the system development and deployment, the system uses a lightweight Struts-Spring-Hibernate JavaEE framework to build. These modules are low coupling with each other to facilitate the future expansion. In the implementation process, the video annotation learning module uses flex technology to implement a video player which function include Subtitle plug-in, labels showing, quizzes pop-up, voice repeating and so on. Students can learn English by watching the video, the player can pop-up questions in the process of the playing videos, and students can gain scores by answering the questions. By means of comparing the advantages and disadvantages of many speech evaluation method, the pronunciation score module uses the audio comparison algorithm based on the HMM statistical models to build a pronunciation score mechanism. Students can practise their pronunciation skills by the pronunciation score module. The system will bring some scores and correction informations to student according to their performance. These scores will act as the incentive mechanism to increase students'confidence to learn English much more. With the other interactive and intelligent module adding to the system gradually, the dissertation finally realize the interactive-intelligent English studing system.
