The changing world of the21st century, the strength of the contest between thecountries is not only the political, economic, military and other hard strength of thecontest, but also the contest between the country’s image、national culture and softpower. The mass media become the carrier and bear the role of the media in shapingand building of the country’s image, this papers focus on exploring the relationshipbetween mass communication and national image.Olympic Games is a centralized platform to show the world one nation’s ownimage, after China’s successful hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games in2008, thecountry’s image and status has greatly improved, but the performance of the Chineseteam at the2012London Olympics, and Sports the mechanism is still being questionedby the foreign media. This as the starting point, the Olympic Games in China-relatedreports as a specific object of study, selected to organize this event for the OlympicGames in London, the United Kingdom’s famous newspaper "The Times" as a textualanalysis of object-oriented research, theoretical framework supporting theory contentanalysis, take a combination of quantitative and qualitative the Times OlympicsChina-related reports of the genre, theme, writing style, emotional tendencies, trying toanalyze the British media in the eyes of China’s national image and characteristics, andparse the image formed behind the deep-seated social roots.In this thesis, Mass Communication and National Image are the main researchcontent, I selected recent world events-the Olympic Games as a specific object ofstudy, using the latest data as the text of the study, trying to make the paper becomingmore research value.
