The Analysis Of China's National Image Of The Beijing Olympic Games

National image, as the extremely important intangible assets of a country, is the major manifestation of a country's comprehensive national strength and international status. And the Olympic Games, being the world's largest event, of which the effect has been quite significant in shaping and spreading the national image of the host. The held of Beijing Olympic Games is a double-edged sword to China's national image bringing tremendous challenges and opportunities. This research, based on the analysis of Beijing Olympic Games, summarizing its successes and shortcomings, has practical significance.Beijing Olympic Games has played a huge role in China's national image-building and upgrading. By sorting out the historical evolution of China's national image based on the timeline, and the communication studies' analysis and interpretation of China's national image before and after Beijing Olympic Games, this paper comes to an end that, the idea of "green Olympics, Scientific Olympics and Humanity Olympics" has been throughout the whole story, effectively spread and enhanced China's national image, and changed the Western stereotype towards China. Through detailed analysis of the media coverage and approach in different periods which includes former-, ongoing-, and post-Beijing Olympic Games, we can see that the effect of the Olympic Games in spreading a country's national image is with different characteristics at different stages, if we can make good use of it, it will lead us to good results, instead it will be less effective. In addition, the status of the new media is becoming increasingly important under the new circumstances. The new media which is employed in spreading China's imagine during the Beijing Olympic Games has made sound effects, we could use and learn from these successes in the future events to spread national image.
