Materials measuring is a vital section in running process of steel business. Themethod of materials measuring in the past was manual, which had many disadvantages,such as wasting of manpower, low efficiency, lacking of veracity, high rate of errors anddifficulty of seeking. It cannot meet the requirements of modern enterprises.An efficient, unattended remote materials measuring and monitor system which canbe used in modern steel business is designed in this paper. The system can improve thetechnical level of automation and infomationization of logistics management in steelbusiness efficiently, and can increase the efficiency of management of goodstransportation, and can reduce workloads and rate of errors.The unattended remote measurement and monitoring system designed in the paper ismainly used for the measurement and management of goods which enter or leave thefactory. It mainly included three parts which are hardware design, software design andadjusting and maintainers. There are four areas in the part of hardware design which areserver area, measuring house area, operating area and monitoring area, and it detailed thefunction, demand and standard selection for main equipments. It designed five kinds ofsoftware which are management for database, for measurement, for monitoring, forabnormal data and for seeking of measuring data in the part of software design. There isalso methods of adjusting for hardware and software and demand of maintainersintroduced in the paper. The system achieved many functions for steel business, such asunattended measurement at measuring house, automotive measuring, automotive storinginto database, alarm for abnormal data, backing up at another place and continuingworking by another equipment. Operators can monitor high clear images of remotemeasuring house and provide guide with speech sounds. All the data can be sought byvarious ways through rights of seekers. Having been running for a long period, thesystem is proved safe and steady. This paper can be read for reference to the logistics management of enterpriseswhose amount of receiving or sending goods is large.
