The thesis analyzed the development of material corrosion database, which is a very important branch of the material scientific database. In this thesis, the necessity and urgency of establishing a network version of Chinese material corrosion database is declared and emphasized; and such content as the main principle for database system, the design and construction of the background database, the frame and completion of the web application of the material corrosion web database was systematically discussed.The main objective of the project is to design and construct a material corrosion web database on internet. Via multi-threading working, the web database can provide service for multi-user without the limitation of time and space. At the same time, system administrators can maintain and upgrade the web database with simple operation on web server. By means of putting corrosion database on web, material corrosion web database resolve the main deficiency of original corrosion databases for one-computer-use (each computer needs a copy of database and the work of maintenance and upgrade must be done repeatedly).In the thesis, ASP+SQL Server solution, which is popularly used for constructing web database, and Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0, a develop tool for web application, are adopted to construct the database application.The constructed material corrosion web database contains a great amount of corrosion information, such as corrosion diagrams, corrosion cases, corrosion achievements, corrosion knowledge and information, etc. The database has various searching methods together with a friendly user interface. It is designed not only for producers, researchers and teachers, but also for related technical personnel to select material.
