With the rapid development of communication technology and the improvement ofpeople’s living standard, the demand for positioning and navigation is badly increasing. Theyneed it in many ways such as searching useful information, looking for the elderly andchildren, automotive navigation and so on. But the positioning technology in the doorenvironment develops slowly. Because of the limitation of positioning costs, positioningaccuracy as well as the complexity of the indoor environment conditions, well-positioningtechnology is still unable to be used in a complex environment. In order to improve thecurrent indoor positioning system, this paper designes and realizes a kind of indoorpositioning system based on ZigBee networks. The system has realized low precision positionindoor. The system also possesses many advantages such as low costs, low powerconsumption, low complexity and easily to install and remove.The main work of this paper is as follow.1. Analysis the existing indoor positioning system and summarizes the advantages anddisadvantages of the existing indoor positioning technology. Then, this paper puts forward thesystem of positioning scheme based on ZigBee networks’ RSSI.2. This paper studies the Z-Stack protocol Stack and the network topology, whichprovides conditions for the system construction.3. This paper puts forward an improved triangle weighted centroid localization algorithmwhich performs well in localization positioning accuracy.3. This paper proposes the system design of positioning and achieves a location system.There are three parts included. They are hardware platform, communication program of nodesand PC monitor software.4. Experimental environments are well designed, and experiments are conducted. Testsshow that this system has reached the requirement of design and the system is a low cost, easyto implement one. Aim at the shortage which is found during the test, the method toconsummate the function is proposed.
