Indoor positioning techniques is widely applied in parking management, thewounded rescue after mine-accident, robot navigation and etc., but the error of indoor positioning has been the important reason for limiting the development of indoor positioning technology. Aimed at improving the indoor positioning ac-curacy, this paper selected indoor localization technology based on RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator), made researches from two aspects including mea-suring and positioning, and the main work and conclusions are as follows:First of all, this paper built the software and hardware test platform, simu-lated and analyzed the precision affection of RSSI ranging parameters and envi-ronmental factorsl. Mainly included the use of Matlab graphic simulation for two parameters of signal transmission model, which are related to the environment, and used two Zigbee modules as data transceiver node, making studies andanalysis on of antenna angle, direction and obstacles through a large number ofexperimental data, and it’s concluded that different antenna angle and obstacles will have influence on ranging.Secondly, for positioning algorithm based on RSSI ranging, this thesis usedthe gaussian filter to preprocess the obtained RSSI value, then proposed a wei-ghted centroid localization algorithm combined anchor node selection strategy and intersection of the centroid. In terms with the actual fact that the RSSI ra-nging is easily affected, after comparisons among several filtering algorithms, gaussian filtering method is finally applied to make appropriate pretreatment onRSSI values. Then shortcoming analysis on the traditional weighted centroid lo-calization algorithm was made, considering the limited system resources and p-ower requirements occurred on wireless nodes, making a fusion of anchor nodeselection strategy and centroid algorithm, this paper put forward the optimal w-eighted centroid localization algorithm based on RSSI ranging. Through Matlabsimulation and composing actual indoor positioning system with Zigbee modulesto compare these two algorithms, the experiment shows that indoor localization algorithm proposed in this paper has a higher positioning accuracy than the traditional algorithm to a certain extent, so it has a certain application value.
