Since the war-battle fields become more complicated, the traditional radar equipmentare not sufficient for multifunction tasks. Phased array multifunction radar has the ability ofbeam agility, providing ample abilities, such as target search, confirmation and track. Fromthe point of timeline, the simultaneous ability of taking tasks out is time duplexing of radarhardware, especially phased array antenna. The radar hardware has the ability of providinghigh performance, with the support of efficient resource management software. The radarresource management system controls the whole radar hardware, in order to exploit its timeand energy resource. There are many algorithms dealing with the resource management problem. This thesisprovides the details about RRM (radar resource management) algorithm in chapter three. The RRM problem has two basic issues: task prioritization and task scheduling. Some RRMalgorithms handle the two issues separately and others handle them simultaneously. The taskprioritization is an important factor in the task scheduler. The other factor is the requiredscheduling time, which is decided by the environment, the target scenario and theperformance requirements of radar functions. A RRM algorithm can be non-adaptive oradaptive. In a non-adaptive scheduling algorithm, the task priorities are predefined and theradar scheduler include some heuristic rules. Therefore, the resource performance is notoptimized. Adaptive scheduling algorithms are much more complex, and should, theoretically, yield better performance. The chapter four covers the problem about radar task scheduling. Firstly, radar taskmodels are founded with analysis of its characters and parameters. In order to address theperformance requirements, i.e. the real time issue, the dwell time window is observedheavily. There must be energy consummation when transmitting or receivingelectromagnetic beams. This is the important issue in radar resource management. In orderto improve the efficiency of transmitting beams, we interleave beams. We compared Ormanscheduling algorithm to Butler algorithm, address their different performance. The chapterfive covers the details of MESAR algorithm and compares it with time window chainingalgorithm in simulations.
