| In the modern history of news dissemination of China, Shenbao is the beginning of the modern newspaper and one of the signs. It not only recorded and witnessed the change of society and the development of China, but also participanted in the change of society. As an important historical aspects of modern social change in China, Innovation of Imperial Examination had been one of social issues on which Shenbao focused. It was the last critical period of Innovation of Imperial Examination in1901-1905. As one of the major public opinion position, Shenbao was representative and unique in the construction of public opinion.Base on the historical materials of newspaper and the historical materials of Innovation of Imperial Examination (1901-1905), this thesis aim to study on the public opinion expression of Innovation of Imperial Examination in1901-1905. By analyzing the four public opinions,such as abolishing, indefeasible, slowed repeal, merged Examination, and the specific comments,such as flexible, rewarding origin, new-type Examinations that Shenbao reflected in Innovation of Imperial Examination, focusing on main forms of the public opinion expression during this period, and then sums up the characteristics and causes of Innovation of Imperial Examination. Actively used published the Edict and Memorials and Charter, Comment, News reports, advertisement, Shenbao reflected a variety of public opinion and offered suggestions on specific measures of Innovation of Imperial Examination. But its attitude toward Innovation of Imperial Examination was ambiguous, thus formed its enlightened and improved own unique voice in the process of Innovation of Imperial Examination.Newspapers record the era and witness history. In the background of media convergence of new century, to study public opinion expression of Shenbao and to reveal the reality though history has guiding significance for the construction of public opinion in the social transformation period. |
