RFID technology (the radio frequency identification technology) is one of four keytechnologies for the Internet of Things. Now there is many kinds of RFID applicationproducts emerged in the world. Because of the limited of the low frequency and highfrequency RFID technology, more and more people focous on the UHF RFIDtechnology. Now portable RFID tags have been implemented. But portable RFID reader chipsare still in its beginning period. This dissertation researched on the system structure,FPGA verification and ASIC design of the UHF RFID reader digital baseband chipbased on the open source MCU IP core LEON3.The main work and achievements of this thesis is presented below:1.Detailed analyze on the ISO18000-6B/6C protocols, including physical layer,tag-identication layer, tag memory, tag state and the communication process betweenthe reader and tags.2.Put out the framework structure of the digital baseband system on the basis of theISO18000-6B/6C protocols, and analyze on the principles and design methods ofseveral critital modules.3. Introduced the development of the open source IP core LEON3, and the methodto extend and simplify the IP core.4. The critical modules of the digital baseband system were designed, using theVHDL.And all of these modules have been implemented and tested on target device:Xilinx Virtes-6series FPGA.5. Introduced the ASIC design flow in brief. And present a layout(not optimized) asan example.
