Wireless sensor network(WSN) will connect the physical world, the digital virtualworld and human society together through a new “ubiquitous” mode, and greatlyimprove the people’s ability to understand and transform the world. Sensor nodes areoften deployed in harsh environments, using of battery-powered. The node manager asthe brain of the sensor network is under heavy burden and need to have enoughprocessing power. It has important significance for research to integrate power andperformance to design it.Based on the ZigBee protocol self-developed in the laboratory, this paper builded asmall wireless sensor networks actually used in the field of environmental monitoring, including a Node Manager, certain acquisition nodes and a remote PC client. Integratingpower and performance for each module selection and design, this paper uses ARMCortex-M3core as the core processor, CC2520as RF transceiver chip, dual powersupply and solar charging energy replenishment to ensure that the node manager cancontinue to work in low-power for a long time. All the nodes are arranged in themonitoring area. The acquisition nodes capture environmental information, such asambient temperature and humidity, and pass the processed information to the NodeManager through the ZigBee network. PC client communicates with the node managervia SMS or GPRS to remote monitor the entire network. The node manager works as aconnecting link in the whole system. This paper focuses on the hardware design and implementation of the Node Manager, including each module selection, such as the MCU selection, ZigBee RF transceiverchip selection, GSM communication module selection, and the design and completionof each module circuit. After analysising the power consumption of the node manager, the power supply and energy supply is designed to ensure the Node Manager prolongedwork. Combined with PCB anti-jamming design issues, the circuit layout, wiring, thehardware basis debugging are finished. At last, the performance of the completed PCBboard, the RF transmission distance and network are tested. After building the entiresystem experiment platform with the help of team members, we have done joint experiments, collected and uploaded environmental data, and achieved the requirementsof the subject. We successful have implemented one kind of the design of the nodemanager, and provides help for its future application and research.
