With the development of wireless communication technology, public mobilecommunication technology has evolved to the4th generation,of which LTE(Long TermEvolution) developed by3GPP is the mainstream standard. LTE has a standard systemand state-of-the-art access technology, and can provide high-speed wirelesscommunication for the mobile telephone and the data terminal. Dedicated trunkingcommunication system requirements are also increasing in recent years due to theimprovement of business size and level of service of the civil aviation airport.. Usingthe latest LTE technology to develop the Airport broadband trunking communicationsystem can effectively improve the service level of this system. Some necessarychanges needs to be made to construct airport dedicated broadband trunkingcommunication systems based on LTE which is designed for public mobilecommunication. These changes make the development process of the airport broadbandtrunking communication system need to have a dedicated terminal simulator support. This article focuses on the design and implementation of radio resource controlprotocol of the Airport broadband trunking communication system.Based on theMPC8545E PowerPC hardware platform and VxWorks6.4operating system, the radioresource control module is developed using the C++language. Firstly the advantagesof the airport dedicated trunking communication system based on LTE technology, theoverall system architecture and application scenarios are analysed. On this basis, business requirements, functional requirements, and key performance indicators areresolved. And then the hardware architecture of the terminal simulator, the softwareoperating environment and software design principles are given. Radio resource controlprotocol and non-access layer protocol jointly constitute the protocols of the controlsurface, both associated with strong, so the structure of software implementation of thecontrol surfaces software is first researched, and then the overall design of the RRCmodule is executed. Then the functions and software implementation of UE-CENTERsub-module, the MOBILITY sub-module, the SYSTEM-INFO sub-module, theCOMMON sub-module, and L1/L2CONFIG sub-module are described in detail. Finally, tests of the boot process, the cell selection process, the paging process, RRClink building process, the initial security activation process, the RRC reconfigurationprocess and the handover process are introduced. The test results show that using theterminal simulator can carry out normal handover and maintain call stability, whichverify the correctness of the RRC protocol implementation. The design andimplementation of the terminal simulator is a necessary part of the the broadband clustersystem development work. The terminal simulator developed not only to meet thedemand of the support system development and peer testing, but also for thedevelopment accumulated experience of commercial wireless terminal resource controlprotocol.
