Antenna is one of the key components in trunking communication system; itsperformance determinates the quality of communication system. With the rapid developmentof trunking communication, properties of miniaturization, multi-frequency and broadband forantennas in application of trunking communication system are demanded. Planar Inverted-FAntenna (PIFA) are widely utilized due to their low profile, easy to fabricate,and easier tointegrate with microwave circuits.The main works of this thesis are summarized as follows:1. We introduce the basic principles of microstrip antenna; sets forth three modernanalysis methods of microstrip antenna, and the miniaturization, multi-band and broadbandtechnologies of the microstrp antenna are analyzed.2. The status of research on PIFA is summarized, the basic configurations and principlesof PIFA are studied, and make an emphasis on introducing electric parameters, and introducethe equivalent model of PIFA.3. Three microstrip antennas suitable for mobile communication are proposed anddesigned:(1) strp-shaped substrate structure micro-strip antenna suitable for ISM application;(2) PIFA suitable for GSM900application;(3) PIFA suitable for GSM900/DCS1800application. And the theory and design of three microstrip antennas lay a necessary foundationfor the design of PIFA suitable for trunking communication terminal.4. A dual-band PIFA is proposed and designed. The influences of the antennaconfiguration parameters on antenna performance are analyzed. The results show thatconfiguration parameters of patch,the position, the L-pattern slot at the ground plane, thewidth and the position of the short circuit patch, the position of the feeding lineļ¼Œthe height ofthe antenna all have significant effects on the antenna performance. By modifying the designof antenna, the PIFA achieves broadband characteristic with two bands:806MHz~821MHz/851MHz~866MHz and372MHz~379MHz/382MHz~389MHz.Compared with other antennassuitable for UHF application, the PIFA is suitable for trunking communication terminal.
