Research on multi-resolution modeling and simulation of radar system is of greatsignificance considering both the development of radar system and simulation trends.Modules with different resolution are established to meet the requirement of radarsimulation system. The complexity of the model can be controlled agilely; resourceutilization and the benefit-cost ratio of radar system development have been improved. This paper discussed the application of multi-resolution modeling method interms of radar system building and simulation. First, based on the hierarchical structureand the designing process of the physical radar system, simulation system has beendivided from the lowest resolution to the highest resolution into four levels: functionalsimulation, subsystem-level simulation, signal-level simulation and device-levelsimulation. Second, the multi-resolution model family of radar receiver have beendesigned and established, which fully demonstrate the advantages of multi-resolutionmodeling. Finally, due to the primary mission of signal processor which is to extracttarget signal from noisy background, we abstract out the processing gains as thefundamental properties of signal processor which typically deals with mixed signals oftarget signal, clutter, interference and noise. With the analysis of processing gains ofthe four signals respectively, Subsystem-level model of signal processor has been builtby using the method of aggregation and disaggregation. The consistency of signal-levelsimulation based on signal flow and subsystem-level simulation has been analyzedsynthetically.
