As our national open door policy continues and deepens, China becomes more economically integrated with the rest of the world at much quicker speed resulting greater national needs of enhancing worldwide communications and information spreading. Mass media highly stands out in light of its function of worldwide communications and as a tool to understand all there is need to know about China.People’s Daily Overseas Edition, a traditional public media, is accredited the highest authority of Chinese national media worldwide, and it plays significant role in preserving and protecting the national image in the eyes of foreigners. This article studies and discusses the effectiveness of People’s Daily Overseas Edition’s reports and explores its reporting strategies by taking a close look at published news in regards to US Presidential Champion2012. Through reasonable and objective researches and analysis, this article would be able to provide relatively unbiased opinions on and recommendations for some aspects of People’s Daily Overseas Edition’s reporting.Based on research studies, People’s Daily Overseas Edition can be characterized by its frequencies which had been kept up to date with US Presidential Champion’s progresses; its types of literature written in which majority of news were released as news roundups providing objective information gathering in the way that audience was informed of "what does the Chinese think"; and news published were closely related to the oversea Chines community according with the targeted audience of People’s Daily Overseas Edition’s reports.This article has more focused on in-depth analysis on the framework of People’s Daily Overseas Edition, combined with contrasts against People’s Daily; conclusions reached in this article would appear to be more promising and convincing in comparison with other peered articles speaking in generalities. The theoretical basis and meaning of this article are uses of framework analysis to present the overview of China’s landscape of international reporting.Recommendations include increasing pages; utilizing the advantage of correspondents stationed abroad communicating with foreign Chinese; and learning and referring to designing and contents of foreign newspapers were made based on the results reached from research studies. It is a sincere hope from the author of this article to contribute to the progress of our national mass media and this article can be of any assistance to the development and improvement of People’s Daily Overseas Edition.
