A Comparative Research Of Disaster Reports Between Chinese And Japanese Newspapers

The emergence of Global Village has made time and space infinite. The connections among regions get even closer at the same time. It is under such circumstances that news events generate far-reaching impact. The impact of unexpected disasters, to be honest, reaches even further.Being a vital part of news report, due to its inherently high news value, the coverage of disasters are getting good public attention. The analysis of these coverage are also becoming hot spot.The People’s Daily and Asahi Shimbun are one of the most influential newspapers in the Chinese and Japanese, to reach a wide audience base, The two major news media has become the bellwether of public voice since the disastrous earthquake took place in the two countries, right after continuous following coverage of quake-hit area was rapidly made.In order to find out the differences and similarities of disaster coverage between Japan and China, this article takes examples from2008earthquake coverage and2011earthquake coverage made respectively by the People’s Daily and Asahi Shimbun. Performance of Sino-Japanese news media in emergencies as a starting point, divided into three parts concerning subject matter,The first part will be the research background and related concepts to sort out:First, finishing the status quo of Chinese and foreign scholars disaster news coverage of theories and methods covered in this article; followed overview of the concept of disaster news reports, the course of development in our country, and existing problems;The second part of a combination of qualitative research and quantitative research methods, data analysis and content analysis based on the framework of the theory of architecture, from the six thematic coverage, news sources reported that genre, Photo News, location, and keywords, summarized the disaster at the Sino-Japanese media news reports their own characteristics and differences between the two;The third part is the Conclusions and Implications:try to analyze the reasons for the differences of the two major media disaster news reports, which found that the shortcomings of the Chinese news media in disaster news reports, advanced practice to learn from the Japanese media for reference, to reflect further on how to improve our the quality of disaster news reports, I hope that the study can be helpful in the news coverage of China’s disaster.
