With the rapid development of the integrated circuits, the feature size of the chip isgetting smaller and the velocity is getting faster. Due to the presence of crosstalk, powerconsumption and bandwidth limitation, the traditional electrical interconnection hasbeen difficult to meet the high-performance requirements. Optical interconnection hasbecome the main interconnection between (within) chips because of its inherentanti-jamming, low-power and high-bandwidth characteristic. The main amplifier of the optical receiver front-end and the optical waveguide areimportant parts of the chip-to-chip optical interconnect system. This paper mainlycompleted the research and simulation analysis of the rectangle Y-branch waveguides, atthe same time, it also completed the design and simulation analysis of the mainamplifier circuits based on the0.35μm CMOS process. The main amplifier can be implemented by the automatic gain control circuits andthe limiting amplifier circuits. This paper selects limiting amplifier circuit as the circuitconfiguration of the main amplifier, because of it has simple circuit structure, small chiparea and low power consumption. As the characteristic frequency fTof the0.35μmCMOS process is up to13.5GHz, the bandwidth of the circuit should be expanded torealize the transmission rate of2.5Gb/s. This paper uses active negative feedback and fTdoubling technology to expand the circuit bandwidth and at last the small-signal gain ofthe circuit is37.39db,-3db bandwidth is1.75GHz. At the same time, the circuit hasgood characteristics through the eye diagram analysis. The circuit in this paper can workwell at the rate of2.5Gb/s.On the basis of theoretical analysis of the waveguide, this paper mainly researchand analysis the waveguides loss. Based on the finite difference beam propagationmethod, this paper simulates the waveguides loss of the rectangle Y-branch waveguideby the software of the BeamPROP. It has laid a good foundation for further research aswell as the actual production of the waveguides.
