Children’s museum in America has a long history of more than110years.At present, about260(90%) children’s museums lie in American, two in China. Inrecent years, nearly30million passengers visit children’s museum in America everyyear, and it becomes one of the fastest-growing cultural institutions and play animportant role on children’s education in America. However, from the existingresearch, not only a few relate to it, but also the understanding of its nature confused.From the researcher’s academic background and research perspective, withoutpedagogy. All these deficiency, as well as childrens Museum have referencesignificance to our country’s childrens education, prompting me from the perspectiveof pedagogy to have this research. Meanwhile, two domestic childrens Museumcurrently have bottlenecks on development, this make me from a comparativeperspective to study childrens Museum in China and America.This article is composed of three chapters. Chapter I, first set out thebackground, meaning, content, framework, methods of the research, and thenthrough the method of literature to comb literature of Children’s museum, andanalysis them. Chapter II, through the method of literature and case, study thedevelopment, origin and development background, mission, core values, nature,mode of operation and support of children’s museum in America, and “nature” is thekey. All these literature from over240Children’s museums’ website, and cases are“the first” and “the largest” children’s museum in America, name” The Brooklynchildrens Museum” and”childrens Museum of Indianapolis”. Chapter III, primarilythrough the investigation to study Children’s museum’ development in China, andthen based on a comparative perspective between China and America, presentedthese problems and suggestions about children’s museum in China.Study finds: childrens museum is not one type of museum, learning outsideeducational institutions of children and childrens entertainment agency, but one typeof social educational institutions in America. And meanwhile, from the comparativeperspective to study childrens museum in China and America, these problems on Children’s museums in China are small numbers of visitor, weak social impact, poorservice, outdated facilities, and so on. Accordingly, proposals on the advocacy of corevalues, finance, policy, legislation are given. Finally, the study suggests that thepurpose of the research and attention to childrens museum lies on the attention ofthe quality of outside education on children and the construction of child-orientedspace outside school.
