With the development of higher education, the number of the undergraduate students who major in journalism has been increasing. The growing of that meets the need of Chinese journalism education which is being improved and consummated in the modern times. Furthermore, more and more persons with the ability in journalism are being trained and are working for the media field at present China. However, this situation also gives rise to a very important subject, considered as one of keys of reformation in journalism education, which is how the high qualified journalists and news people and how to make the effective education system matched educational goal. As well-known the entire world, journalism education in United States has been regarded as the most excellent model that can be learned and followed by others, according with its progress and attribution having being made. The model of training students who are in this major has the most significant influence in the world. Thereby, through comparing the journalism education between china and America, especially undergraduate level, some successful experience can be found and brought into Chinese journalism education. Also, the differences between them bring educators more insight ideas about how to make Chinese education improved perfectly. The comparison will be considerable and significant for Chinese journalism education.This study has five sections. The first section, it is an introduction. It will address some articles and theories closely related with current undergraduate journalism education and their methods in research and study at present. The second one, it more emphasizes the study of the Chinese journalism education. After then, in the third, the study of the American undergraduate journalism education is stressed. The two sections above are the background of the contradistinction in this study. Furthermore, according to the discussion above, the problems existing in Chinese undergraduate journalism education are focused. The in-deep and meaningful thoughts about Chinese journalism education is presented in fourth section. Moreover, the suggestions on this area are given, based on the comparison of Chinese and American undergraduate journalism education.
