Development History Of Modern Muslim Press

From1919to October1949, The modern Hui periodicals and newspapers have experienced the growth of nearly31years, which provides ample historical basis and broad research space for the study of modern Hui development and minority journalism.Modern Hui periodicals and newspapers are based on revitalization and development of Hui people. It pays attention to current events, self-reflection, and promotes the rapid development of the Hui New Culture Movement. Especially, the Moonlight, it has led the development direction of modern Chinese Hui newspapers, occupied a pivotal position in the history of the Chinese Hui newspapers. Therefore, based on the background of the modern periodicals and newspapers, this paper carries out a case study of the "Moonlight".This paper is divided into four chapters. In the introduction, it firstly discusses the rise of the ethnic minority newspapers and periodicals, and elaborates the research background from the birth of Moonlight. Secondly, it points out that the research status of modern Hui newspapers and Moonlight. Academic circles have carries out enough researches on Moonlight from the perspective of text study, yet historical study is rarely involved. This paper will make up for the deficiencies in this area. Finally, according to Lei Xiaojing’s Table of Contents and Abstract Hui Modern Newspapers and Periodicals, and the study scope of this book, the author of this paper selects45kinds of modern Hui newspapers as the study basis for "Moonlight".The first chapter conducts a statistical analysis on the development of the modern Hui newspapers from the perspectives of starting time, publication type, running time, publication categories and founded address, points out that the characteristics of the development and the plight of modem Hui newspapers and periodicals, and following the trace of historical development, hencen to comb the development context of modem Hui newspapers and periodicals.The second chapter is the case study on Moonlight, it has been divided into four stages during the nearly20years development:initial period (1929-1931), Peiping period (1932-1935) anti-Japanese war period (1938-1942), decline period (1946-1948). In the meantime, from focus on the spread of the living conditions of Hui people, vaule the importance of the promotion Hui culture, pay attention to newspapers’ guiding force on public opinion, and value the diversification of the report, the author summarizes the running tendency of this magazine, hence to perceive the characteristics of modern Hui newspapers and periodicals.The third chapter discusses the contribution of Moonlight has made from the perspectives of contribution on Huisology, promotion on Hui people’s New Culture Movement, contribution on the Chinese news media, and introduction of Arabic lead type printing into China. From a more three-dimensional view, this paper analyzes the status and value of "Moonlight", which is difficult to be replaced in the modern Hui magazine.Through this study, the author gives a systematic look at the development of the modern Hui newspapers and periodicals, studies the influences of Moonlight upon the modern Hui society and its running tendency, therefore, lay the foundation for future studies of modern Hui newspapers and periodicals.
