The Shanghai Female Newspapers and Periodicals refer to those which are published and edited in Shanghai with women as the main readers and female issues,culture,education and life as the main contents.Through a comprehensive and systematic review of Shanghai female newspapers and periodicals from 1898 to 1949,this paper discusses the changing track,development characteristics and development laws of modern Shanghai female newspapers and periodicals.In the vertical,relying on the interactive changes of Shanghai cities and Female newspaper and periodicals and the development logic of Female newspaper and periodicals,it is divided into five periods,corresponding to five chapters: Shanghai Female newspaper and periodicals(1898~1911)in the late Qing Dynasty,early Republic of China The Shanghai Female newspaper and periodicals(1912~1918),the Shanghai Female newspaper and periodicals(1919~1926)during the May Fourth Movement,the Shanghai Female newspaper and periodicals in the 1920 s and 1930s(1927~1937),and the Shanghai Female newspaper and periodicals during the War(1937~1949).Horizontally,we study the development background and conditions,overall situation,and typical cases of Female newspaper and periodicals in five periods.When discussing typical Female newspaper and periodicals study the purpose of the journal,the main reporter,the style,main content,management and social impact.These cases include These cases include Chinese Girl’s Progress,Nv Bao,Nvzi Magazine(1904),ChineseWomen,XiangYan Magazine,NvZi Magazine(1914),Woman’s Magazine,The Chung Hwa Woman’s Magazine,Mei Yu,Nv Duo,Jie Fang Pictorial,Linloon Magazine,TheWoman’s Pictorial,Nv Zi Periodical,Woman’s Life,Nv Chen(1932),Shanghai Women,Nv Chen(1942)JIA and so on.According to the research of this paper,we find that: First,the modern Shanghai female newspaper and periodicals show a unique change track in the interaction withthe city: as a media tool for women’s enlightenment in the late Qing Dynasty;explore commercial operation in the early period of the Republic;readers’ extension in the May Fourth period To the civilians,the main body of the journal is diversified;the gender consciousness is strengthened during the ten-year relative stability period,and the form is diversified and prosperous.During the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation,women dominated the newspapers,alienated politics,and paid attention to actual survival.Second,the modern Shanghai female newspaper and periodicals and magazines lead the country’s ethos,showing the characteristics of the earliest founding time,the diversification of the main body of the journal,the first commercial operation,and the death of the public.Third,the modern Shanghai female newspaper and periodicals show that: in parallel with the women’s liberation movement,the development turning point is promoted by the male group,and further developed with the improvement of women’s education level.
