Power Communication Network has become an important infrastructure of production control and management to electric power. Many significant operations like dispatching telephone, relay protection, and power system automatic safety control device carried by power telecommunication network guarantee the power network safety operation. Inner Mongolia Power Communication Network Is covered with fibre-optic at present to its main body, which is composed of multiple transmission facilities of synchronous digital hierarchy(SDH). Clock synchronization is an important prerequisite for correct transmission of signals in SDH transmission, otherwise clock slip even clock error may affect the normal transmission. The analysis and specific optimization of SDH clock in Power Communication Network are proposed according to the present situation of Hohhot area.The fundamental of SDH transmission is introduced from the point of frame structure, the role of clock synchronization and the basic techniques of clock synchronization networking are expound also in front of the paper. The key point of the paper is the analysis of Present situation of SDH transmission synchronization network in Power Communication Network of Hohhot area. The defects of synchronization network at the moment are pointed out. Illustrating that over length clock transmission link may cause CLK slip in SDH transmission by alert messages display of SDH network management system, thus causing digital service failure. Finally an overall optimization scheme of synchronization network in Hohhot area is proposed, by adding external clock devices in key NE of region, downloading the clock Gradually to each NE, then testing in substation. The test result illustrated that clock quality is obviously improved after introducing high-precision clock.
