Analysis On The Factors Of User Information Needs In Digital Library

With the advancement of the construction of digital library, the resource construction、 service level and technological advance of digital library have all had rapid progress. But because of the lack of correct understanding and exploration on the user information needs, the service of digital library at present is far from user needs, and the user satisfaction is not high. As digital library is acting as the important information resource database, it is a topic worthy of further study for general information workers on how to create the demanding information service environment according to the user’s knowledge structure、information needs、modus operandi and psychological predispositions in order to constantly provide all kinds of information transmission service, realizing the value of digital library. As a starting point to the user information needs of digital library in Jiangsu Province, this article explores the factors of user information needs in digital library from the standpoint of empirical analysis.The main contents of this study include following aspects.First of all, on the basis of reviewing the user information needs level、existence form、 discipline and content structure both at home and abroad, found the research on the factors of user information needs in digital library is a weak link in the digital library research work so as to determine the content and direction of this article.Secondly, comprehensively analysing the factors of user information needs in digital library according to the literature research, mainly including three aspects:user, digital library and the external environment.And then through use the expert scoring method and grey statistics method to gain eighteen important factors consisting of the aspects of the user and digital library so as to build a theoretical model on the factors of user information needs in digital library.Then, it designs a questionnaire according to the theoretical model in order to know about the user information needs of digital library in Jiangsu Province from the aspects of information resource、information service and information system, and the research results show that current user information needs in Jiangsu Province is generally not high.Fourthly, on the basis of data analysis, removing the non-significant factors through significance test, and then use optimal scaling regression to optimize the model on the factors of user information needs in digital library from the standpoint of quantification. Based on the analysis of the model results, the most important factors that influence user information needs are user occupation、education dependence that life and study rely on network as well as the information resources’ quality、renewal speed、applicability and so on.Finally, according to model on the factors of user information needs in digital library and the research results of user information in Jiangsu Province, this article puts forward a series of measures and countermeasures from the aspects of the users and digital library in order to improve user information needs—strengthening quality education、improving users’ cognitive and application level to the network、strengthening user training and strengthening information resources construction, optimizing the structure of information collection perfecting the infrastructure of network、changing the service mode and carrying out various forms of information services、improving librarians’ quality and optimizing the team structure to promote the service level of digital library, ultimately providing some reference to the research of user information needs and information service for digital library.This study is the product both of theoretical and empirical research, the key and innovative point of this article is to research the factors of user information needs in digital library at the angle of quantification.According to the model on the factors of user information needs in digital library and the user information needs in Jiangsu Province, the final purpose of this article is to put forward some suggestions and countermeasures from the aspects of the user and the digital library so as to rapidly and stably improve the overall level of service of digital library in Jiangsu Province and even the whole country to meet the user information needs.
