At present, there is a rich variety of LED display at home, but there is no uniformstandard, which caused some problems to staff installation and maintenance of LEDdisplay, in order to facilitate field work personnel can more effective understanding thecharacteristics of the LED display, this paper design a kind of LED display module testsystem based on FPGA. This system by using Verilog HDL hardware descriptionlanguage programming on the FPGA device, to produce different patterns, such as,horizontal, vertical, diagonal lines, etc, to achieve the purpose of detect LED displayseveral common scan mode(static,1/2,1/4,1/8,1/16), the alignment mode(7), andwhether there are bad points.Compared with the existing display test plans, the system in this paper easy tocarry, versatility, easy operation, which can improve the staff’s work efficiency andreduce operating difficulty. The following four points are mainly work discussed in thisarticle:1. According to current status and characteristics of the LED display, analyzes theexisting characteristics of LED display module test plan, put forward the LED displaymodule test system, which with FPGA as the core component.2. Detailed analysis the scan mode and alignment mode of LED display module,and determine the overall scheme of the system design, including hardware andsoftware two parts. Hardware part offer the platform of the system design, software partmainly according to the combination of different scan mode and alignment mode, driveLED display shows different graphical information, so as to test the LED display ofrelated features.3. Divided into various functional modules, using Verilog HDL hardwaredescription language compile key debounce module, data generation module, colorswitch module, dual-port RAM read and write control module and LED display drivermodule. And debug and verify three modules in System-Console.4. In system level platform of System-Console, using TCL language to write a testwindow, the user can set parameters through the window, so as to control the LEDscreen display.This paper mainly completed the design of the key debounce module, datageneration module, color switch module, dual-port RAM read and write control module and LED display driver module. Using TCL language to test and verify the datageneration module, color switch module, and LED display driver module on the System-Console System level platforms. Finally, designed a test window, which easydebugging module.
