Shipbuilding material purchasing is big investment and multi-species, and it isclosing market supply and demand effect significantly, it is an extremely effectiveway to improve the competitiveness of shipyards that combined with computertechnology, improving the level of production and decision-making. Existing TianjinXingang Shipyard material management system is involved in the whole process ofthe material business, the system is based on the relational database, its data accessfrequency is high, operation time is fast, and it can provide a lot of useful data for theplant leadership and various departments. But with the growing demand of the plantleadership for decision support more and more strong, the problem of system "moredata, less information" is gradually revealed. In this paper, demand for shipyardmaterial purchasing decision, put forward a decision support system solution, thatcombined of data warehouse、OLAP and data mining technology. The solution baseon a large amounts of data in the database, data warehouse is used for data storage andorganization, OLAP and data mining is used for the complex analysis operation andknowledge discover.The Article analyzes the current situation and problems of the shipyard originalmaterials management information system. To solves the problems what the originalsystem can not traverse large-scale data in the database for querying and analyzing,can not retain a large amount of historical data over a long period of time, and lacksthe data integration processing capacity in the multidisciplinary databases andbetween the structured data and the unstructured data; presents the solution what toestablish the DW-Based Material purchasing DSS, design a data warehouse themedmaterial purchasing, and integrate, converse, synthesize, reorganize the accumulationof huge amounts of data in daily work with the data warehouse technology, providesthe basis of the data storage and organization for DSS.To solves the problems what the original system queries slower, it is unable torealizes the data query statistics from multi-angle, multi-dimensional; presents thesolution what use OLAP technology analysis the material information withmulti-dimensional, view the data in the data warehouse from multiple angles andmultiple side.To solves the problems what the original system is difficult to forecast the futuredevelopment correctly use historical data; presents the solution what using data mining techniques, found the data potential models in the data warehouse, and makepredictions automatically based on these patterns.In the process of building the system, based on the data warehouse modeling,carding, improved business process, established a full range of data perspective,eliminate information isolated island and data difference; based on OLAPmultidimensional analysis,realized the material procurement information multi-angle,multi-dimensional statistical analysis;based on execute data mining on the datawarehouse, gained a lot of valuable information about material management decision,it has satisfied the demand of materials management decision support.The system gives full play to the data warehouse, online analytical processing,data mining. Through this system, a large number of historical data and heterogeneousdata has been fully utilized, purchaser that not only to understand the material needsof the various departments of the shipyard, but also to grasp the market trend; therebylowering the cost of procurement, improving service quality on the maximum extent,reducing the risk of material procurement decision-making, to create maximumeconomic benefit for the shipyard.
