Based On DW Project Portfolio Decision-making Management And Information System

With continual readjustment of management by project in enterprises and public institutions, the technique of management by project is constantly learn from other areas of knowledge to enrich its own, so that it is more suited to the changing social environment. In this information age, project management techniques and computer technology gradually were fused together to form a research field called by project management technology based on information technology. Project portfolio management as a new emerging project management technology, once there, it quickly integrated with information technology, and supported effective solution to solve the problems that the lower level of project management, not being coordinated of multiple projects management, the lack of communication and coordination between projects.In this paper, the theories of data warehouse and project portfolio management were carefully studied and researched, based on which we learned the current project management information system deeply and found that there is the problem named "spider web", including the problems of lack of unity coordination and uneven allocation of resources so on, which seriously affected efficiency of multiple projects management at the same time. This paper proposed a project management information system solution, which was based on data warehouse technology, and took project portfolio management system architecture as the content to build a unified multi-projects information management platform which also can be called PPDMS.From the perspective of portfolio managers, the solution carefully analyzed the life cycle and process of portfolio decision-making management, including portfolio identification, portfolio planning, implementation and tracking control of project portfolio. And based on this the framework for entire project portfolio decision-making management information platform was designed, and Power Designer database model design software platform was used to design and complete the whole the data Warehouse, and work out the question of how to use the software such as OLAP, Excel and SPSS, etc to link data warehouse with the user to complete the entire platform. This platform, to some extent, solves multiple projects management problems of China’s enterprises and institutions and makes a certain contribution to promote the level of project management information.
