Today's enterprise information is accelerating the pace, PDM system has become the target chased by all powerful companies with the prospect of competing. PDM system will not only enhance their information management capacity, and more importantly, can shorten the research and development of new products, control development costs. Enterprises in the face of the ever-changing market demands, PDM systems can greatly improve the opportunities for enterprises to seize the market sensitivity.However, at present, the developing PDM obviously still have the weak link-the project management functions. PDM (product data management) system's main function is the product of the process of data and process management, as the increasingly fierce competition in the market, the enterprise's product development process becoming increasingly complex, the product development cycle have much more requirements, PDM system as a integrated framework that supporting collaborative product development for enterprises, should provide a powerful project management function for the product development project. Project management achieves a dynamic process of product design for enterprises, effective project management of product development can control the product development during the entire life cycle, so as to shorten the product development cycle, improve product quality and enhance market competitiveness. This paper does technical studies of the product development project management module because of the weaker status of the PDM project management module features.This paper firstly studies the course of development of PDM, including its concept of the birth, development and future prospects. Then, on the basis of the analysis of PDM, studies the project management theory, including the concept of project management, project life cycle, the idea of project management, integrated systematic approach, project management and the relationship to the PDM. Chapter 3 designs the project management systems, including project management system's further analysis, elaboration of the system-designing objectives and system's architecture. Chapter 4 make further detailed study of the project planning, including the decomposition method of the project planning, the sorting of the task, studies of the project construction period and project change analysis of the project optimization, mission planning studies. Chapter 5 make further detailed study of the project monitoring, including monitoring the progress of tasks, resources monitoring, alarm and the mandate of the dynamic scheduling. Chapter 6 studies the system's security strategy, including security analysis of PDM-based project management system architecture, system data security model and system security strategy (authentication, reverse agency services, network information transmission based on the security protocol, integration to Security Authentication System and storage encryption for figure and documents). Finally, make the research for system modeling and function implementation, including the overall design, UML language, project management module modeling, operating environment, method and examples of operation.This paper carries out further assessment and future prospects to the content of the research in the end.
