Objective:To discuss the epidemic characteristics and related factors of depression in Qingdao city by Zung Self Rating Depression Scale and provide scientific basis for depression education, prevention and control.Methods:6000samples were selected from population who aged35-74years old in Qingdao six areas by multi-stage sampling method and4151samples were qualified. A designed Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) was used for the face-to-face survey. The questionnaire included two parts which were general information and SDS. The continuous variables were described by average (standard deviation) and analysis of variance was used in interblock compare. Classified variables were described by rates and x2test was used to compare different rates. Unary linear regression was used to single factor analysis and multiple linear regression was used to analysis the significant factors.Results:During4151respondents, the relevance of depression was12.12%. The SDS standard scores between different work, age, marriage and income were statistically significant (P<0.05). The SDS standard scores of coronary disease, hypertension, cataract and gout were higher than control group (P<0.05).The drinking tea group have a lower SDS standard scores than another group. Drinking tea group had a negative correlation with depression and other factors like hypertension or cataract had a positive correlation with depression by multiple linear regression. Conclusion:There are some depression phenomena among Qingdao population. We advise that during the communinty health manage,we should put more attention to people especially the old and paitents of chronic disease, conducting health education and mental intervention, proposing healthy life style and preventing psychological illness.
